A Language

Luá is a constructed language (conlang). In terms of classification, it's like a philosophical language - words that are similar in meaning are also similar in sound - but it's not intended for use as an international auxiliary language. It's also a fictional language; it's the language of a fictional people in a fictional world, in a story that I've been writing for a long time. The word Luá is not, however, derived from the name of any people or place; it just means "language" or "communication."

Those who have visited this website in the past might notice a change in the Romanised orthography of the language (e.g. the name of the language is now represented as Luá instead of Lűá). I've changed the tone marking system so that each tone is now indicated using a single diacritical mark on each word.

If you're curious as to what this language sounds like, I've added audio samples in the Luá translation from The Babel Text.
